REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Aug. 17, 1998 -- Oracle Corp.
(Nasdaq: ORCL) today announced key executive appointments to further extend
its focus and capabilities in both its applications and database businesses.
George Roberts, senior vice president and an eight year Oracle veteran, was
named to lead North American Sales. This appointment expands Mr. Roberts'
responsibility to include all database and related product sales in the U.S.
and Canada. Edward Sanderson, senior vice president of Americas Services,
will expand his responsibilities to include Latin America and Brazil. Peter
Dunning, who recently joined from SAP as senior vice president of Oracle's
Industrials vertical, will move to lead Oracle's Commercial Applications
business. George Kadifa, a six year Oracle veteran, moves to senior vice
president of the Worldwide Industrials Group.
Ray Lane, Oracle's president and chief operating officer, stated, "These
executive appointments flatten our organization and place more executive
attention on specific components of our business. Our applications business,
now almost $2 billion, has become too large to manage as an integrated part of
our database business. It needs the focus and dedicated executive leadership
that comes from the application market, or the industries which the
application products serve."
Oracle continues to strengthen its vision with the alignment of its
business and the appointments made today. With the dissolution of the
Americas organization, Barry Ariko, executive vice president of Americas and
Robert Shaw, executive vice president of Verticals, have left Oracle to pursue
other business opportunities.
